Wig Accessories Worth Buying: A Starter Guide

Hair bundle tied with a pink ribbon

The wig gets all the attention, but the accessories decide how it looks by 6pm. A five-minute investment in the right extras is the difference between "nice wig" and nobody knowing at all.

Start with the cap

A snug mesh wig cap flattens your natural hair and gives the wig something to grip. Choose breathable bamboo or nylon mesh — and if your scalp runs sensitive, look for a cap with silicone-lined edges rather than combs alone.

Grip, tape or glue — in that order

Try a velvet grip band first; it holds most wigs securely with zero adhesive. If you need more — for dancing, wind, or total peace of mind — scalp-safe tape comes next, and wig glue last. Always patch-test adhesives 48 hours before an event.

Care kit and stand

A collapsible stand, a wide-tooth comb, sulphate-free shampoo and a silk storage bag will double the life of your piece. Wash every 8–10 wears, condition mid-length to ends, and let it air-dry away from radiators.
